Saint Peter’s Church
619 Lexington Avenue New York, NY 10022
Known as the “First Church of Jazz,” Saint Peter’s Church is an iconic Lutheran congregation in Midtown Manhattan. Renowned for its modernist architecture, it sits at the intersection of jazz, contemporary art, and social justice, hosting world-famous Jazz Vespers every Sunday since 1965 while serving the city as a sanctuary congregation and community hub.
The problem
Saint Peter’s needed a reliable way to communicate its wide range of programs, services, and community gatherings to a bilingual congregation.
At the same time, the organization faced an operational challenge: an excess inventory of an unconventional paper size left over from previous print projects. Rather than discarding the material, there was an opportunity to rethink the format of the monthly calendar in a way that could reduce waste and lower production costs.
How we solved it
We developed a production system that aligned event planning, bilingual content preparation, and print timelines into a single coordinated workflow. By establishing earlier content deadlines, the team was able to organize programming information, translations, and approvals well ahead of publication.
At the same time, we redesigned the calendar format to intentionally use the surplus paper stock already available, transforming an operational limitation into a cost-saving and sustainability opportunity. The result was a practical and visually cohesive monthly calendar that reduced waste, optimized resources, and kept the congregation informed through a consistent bilingual communication tool.
